One must-do activity in Khao Yai in winter is camping in the midst of
nature surrounded by forests and streams. It is recommended for those who
escape from the urban jungle. or find time with family or friends It is
very dark at night as there is no light pollution and many stars can be
seen across the sky.

Currently, Khao Yai National Park has one open campsite, Lam Ta Khong
Campsite. This is a large open meadow next to the river. which is the
residence of the otters It is surrounded by trees that are home to monkeys
and gibbons. Even deer can find food. Although very close to nature But
the campground has all the modern amenities.
🕔 Best time to camp: The weather is cool from November to March.
There are two main campgrounds in the park;
- Lam Ta Khong Camp can accommodate 580 people.
- Khao Rom Camp: A capacity of 1,000 people (only available on long weekends)

Tips for pitching a tent
1. Choose a camping site in advance before traveling. which should be the area that was previously used to prevent the expansion of the camp If this is your first-time Practice pitching your tent before you go, or you could waste hours setting up the tent. Find a camping site at least an hour before sunset. to finish setting up the tent before dark
2. Choose a camping site with an adequate water supply and lay a plastic sheet on the ground to keep the tent floor dry. You won't have to dig a trench to get the water out. However, you should set your tent at least 30 meters away from the natural water.
3. Don't pitch a tent under a big tree. Heavy rains can branch out to the ground and there is a danger of lightning in the event of a thunderstorm. Choose a spot that is not too shaded and away from large trees. So if the tree fell You will be out of the fallen branches' radius.
4. Don't set up your tent in the open air. You need tree line protection to prevent your tent from being blown away by strong winds.
5. Do not set up a tent at the foot of the mountain. If it rains heavily, there can be flash floods, which can be dangerous.
6. Do not set up your tent in a barren river under any circumstances, as heavy rain can turn into a stream in just a few minutes.
7. Do not pitch the tent on dense grass or wet areas. Because usually mosquitoes and other insects are found.
8. Before setting up the tent Check the animal's footprint area. which may indicate the path of the animal If it looks unsafe please avoid
9. Camping time in the rainy season Spread the flysheet and dig a trench around the tent.
10. Beware of poisonous animals such as snakes, scorpions, and centipedes that may find a dry place in the tent. or into a sleeping bag or shoe that isn't well-stocked. Check your sleeping bag or shoes carefully before wearing them. You can also apply insecticide or lime to the entire tent.
